The shirt design is confirmed, once again. I have tabulated the results on the fonts. Desgin 6 wins (6 votes, nearly half majority).

The cheapest quotation i got was $13. I think we will settle for that unless anyone has any violent objections that are directed to me asap.

Chimes, have some urgent matters here. Our anniversary is in 2 months time, we need a new shirt. Please leave your comments in the tagboard, thanks.

Firstly, the design of our chimes shirt (look at previous post by me) now costs $23. The other companies I tried cannot print it because it is too detailed, or not clear enough. Currently, there are 6 colours, which is resulting in this type of pricing.

Next, we have an alternative option. We can redo the design, make it simpler, less colourful.

Here's what I thought of. You know, the shirt, we can have the word "chimes" in front, not a logo though, more of at chest level. I found a few interesting fonts which we can use for our shirt design. We can have a bible verse behind or something if you all want.

Now, please leave a comment in the tagboard. First, please state whether you want the $23 option, or the new alternative. Next, if you support the new alternative, please state which font you prefer (1, 2 or 3 etc). Lastly, if you support the new alternative, please state whether you want a bible verse behind (chinese). Please note, I'm trying to keep the original theme of the shirt, so we'll still have a black shirt with purple words.

Hey guys,

Great job on Saturday, best practice ever, and we managed to pull the actual one off nicely. All our hardwork finally paid eh?

I don't think there's any chimes this Sat (as of what I heard), so spend it wisely.

Oh and one more thing, we've got our anniversary somewhere in Feb so it'll be back to practice once again..

Xiao Jun and Yu Xin will be off to Thailand from Tuesday morning. Flight's at 8.30am, Terminal 1. So if anyone wants to go send them off, please do :)

Remember to pray for their safety and health throughout their journey from as they move place to place, wisdom to teach/guide people, courage to face the unexpected, trust in God for all their needs.

Feedback recieved is that it's quite costly, can cut down on colours etc, or look for more quotations. Please let me know if you have any ideas via tagboard etc.

Meanwhile, I'm waiting for 5 more companies to give their quotations. If it's around the same, I think we have to either find someone who knows how to edit the design, or re-design it.

I haven't been posting in a long long long... time. I hope everyone is doing fine so far. How about devotion? Haven't been chasing you people for devotion for quite some time. Well, I shall begin now. If you are reading this, STOP now. GO AND DO YOUR DEVOTION FIRST, then continue to read this.

Now, here's the gist of this post. There will be no chimes this Saturday, but we'll be practicing with choir on Sunday. I think there's going to be the fen dan zhang thingy so I don't really know what time choir will start, so just ask around on Sunday.

Philippians was written when Paul was in prison & the church was having disputes.

Reflections/My responses, together with the speaker's points:
1. Right Belief
Know the God in whom we trust, believe in Him, that all things are done in His way, trust Him.
2. Right attitude
Humble=Joy. Don't hold things against the world. To be humble, can mean gentleness or meekness. To be humble, you must know oneself, and also, know God's grace and praise Him for it.
3. Right confidence
Be confident that all things have been done for our own good, even the sufferings we're going through and failures we experience, it's done by God, for good purposes. Therefore, all things are within God's control. Do not fret.
4. Right prayer
5. Right Thinking
To fret=wrong feeling=wrong thinking. Note: WRONG is NOT NEGATIVE.
6. Right Living
To execute out, to put into action of how to be joyful in all circumstances.
Bonus: Philippians 4:11
7. Content
LEARN how to be contented, completely trust God.

& also, joy and happiness are different things.
Joy, is within. Not varied nor shaken by external circumstances. It is from God.
Happiness, is external. Temporary. To be happy. Will be affected by external. It is a positive feeling.

I was interested, so I eventually ended up reading all the way on a Sunday night before my major papers [: or should I say it was a form of procrasination?

Reflect, and trust in God [: Remember how once when you were young, you were learning to walk. & then, it came the moment when you fell down. You may cry, you may not. But in the end, as that tiny little life, you stood right back up, and started walking again. Why? You felt the pain, but why? You didn't end up giving up to learn how to walk, did you? Or else, you wouldn't be here, standing tall and walking and running and jumping. God is amazing. He lets us learn, step by step. He has given us confidence in Him and everyone else around us. As a child, you learn to trust in your parents, knowing they were there for you if you ever fall. And as you grow up, God wants you to continue to learn how to trust and obey. He wants you to trust in Him and He will empower you. So why cry over a set back? Why give up when things don't work the way you want them to? Don't give up, don't be afraid to attempt things, or fail.

Hi, here is the new chimes duty roster. Those involved on the specified weeks will have to work together in their groups to set up chimes and keep them. However, this does not mean that only these people will have to do all the setting up. Those not "on duty" should also chip in to help. But it those people "on duty"'s responsibility to initiate the setting up of chimes. Chimes has to be set up by 7.30pm so please arrange with your group to come earlier.

Group 1: Samuel, Joel, Jessie, Shermaine
Group 2: Lynn, Joey, Rui Quan, Reecca
Group 3: Xiao Jun, Jean, Enqi, Jing Ying
Group 4: Hilary, Rachel, Jasmine, Yi Qin

The group on duty this week is group 1. The next chimes practice will be group 2 and so on. When you see this, please remind other fellow chimes members to take not of this arrangement.

During a Chimes commitee meeting held 2 days ago, we have arrived at an important decision. We will be splitting members among 3 groups to take charge of various activities. The groupings are as follows:

Chimes t-shirt: Lynn(I/C), Jean, Shermaine, Yu Xin
Chimes Anniversary Planning: Xiao Jun(I/C), Rebecca, Enqi, Jasmine
Outdoor(outings): Hilary(I/C), JIng Ying, Yi Qin
Games: Samuel(I/C), Rui Quan, Joey, Joel, Rachel

Should anyone have any problems with these groupings, please feel free to approach a commitee member in this order:

How are all of you? I think your eaxms are almost over by now (my last paper is this afternoon). Have you all been doing your devotions? It is very important to have a good relationship with God and spend time with Him often.

There is chimes this Saturday (10 May 2008). It is at 3pm in church, just before timothy fellowship starts. This means that there will be no need to stay back for chimes again at night.

There's NO chimes this Saturday (tomorrow. 19/4) as lao shi is sick with a suspected dengue fever. Please pray for her that she will recover soon.

Hello chimes!

I hope all of you are still surviving well in school. Mid years are coming but don't forget to spend time with God. A few things to announce:

1. Here is the timetable for chimes from April to June, so please save it or something so you can refer to it easily.

2. You are encouraged to go for the worship leading thing by lao shi's husband.
1 May 2008 (Labour Day)
10-3pm at church
$5 per person, inclusive of lunch etc.
For more information, please look for lao shi.
Please tell samuel or lynn if your're able to make it by this Saturday (12/4/08).

3. There is chimes as usual this saturday. I am going to do my part to resist playing captains ball once it's 7pm so i can go eat. I hope I will inspire all of you too to not be late (i know i've been late many times already).

4. The prayer and thanksgiving items have been quiet untouched for quite some time. So please look forward to another round of writing it down on slips of paper. Alternatively, you can submit your requests directly to samuel or lynn now.

Today I want to share something about failure =)
Life in this earth is unpredictable, and so is failure.
I am sure everyone meets failure in their failure, whether it’s
in your school, relationship, work. etc!
This may sound cliché, but..
There’s no failure, but only feedbacks

Always analyze the problem and find out the reason for it to occur!
Get it darlings? haha.
Because each failure is one more step leading up to success!

Hence, I learnt that the real definition for failure is
failing to trust and believe that god can be accomplish his purpose through you

And also….
failure is failing to keep on trying to do all the savior has asked you to do.

Always remember to remain confident of god’s wisdom, love, and power,
and move on with hope into tomorrow!

*wa.. I realized that I sound like a super naggy old grandma sia! LOL*

OH OH! Another thing I learned in devotion!

we should encourage one another more often to show some small signs

recently, while doing devotion, have yall realised that it's mainly focused on the 福音书？
well, I have. HEH.
and I've been constantly reminded to
take up the cross and follow Jesus.
does this sound familiar?
from today's daily bread devotion material (In case you havent been doing devotion),
the topic was "JUST JEWELRY?"
if yall have the material, please do read.
I think it's really worth for us to read and give it a though or two.
Many people have cross necklaces as accessories on them.
we're not sure if they're wearing it just for vanity, or for faith.
some wear it, and perform actions which are deemed immoral and shameful, against Christianity.
I think that it's a common thing that's in our society
(e.g. punk rock bands, which big ghastly crosses hung around their necks).
Have they ever thought of the meaning behind the cross?
Have you?
the cross: the instrument of execution used on our Saviour (Matt 27:22-26).
The cross is a sign of His death, and must not be taken lightly.
"wearing the cross might be a challenging mark of discipleship, but what is far more challenging is our Lord's command to take up [our] cross daily and learn what it means to follow His footsteps(Luke 9:23) and it includes our willingness to pracice costly discipleship. "
this last paragraph from the material really implies practically in our lives.

We have decided not to design another shirt for this year because of a few reasons.
1. It is a waste of money since the current one can still be used and the church may find that we are not spending money wisely, buying shirts frequently.
2. Many of us are busy and we do not have time to design the shirt properly.

Hence, please discontinue your designing. Sorry if this was too late a notice. Also, remember to do your devotion regularly. It's very, very important to spend time with God.

How are all of you so far? Please feel free to post on this blog. It's really boring when no one posts to keep this alive. I hope all of you will at least just take a few seconds to check this blog for updates whenever you come online.

Does anyone have anything to pray or give thanks to God about? Just tag or inform Samuel. (and Samuel, could you let me know too so I can post it on this blog then the whole chimes will be able to pray together?) By the way, the first prayer item is: pray that chimes will be able to get over the loss of xiu juan lao shi. Please continue to pray and have your quiet time regularly. And please try to remember what xiu juan lao shi had previously taught us. About worship, prayer... etc.

We are going to have another chimes t-shirt for this year. Each chimes member is to submit one proposed design. Please confine your designs to the back of the shirt and it should not be too elaborate as it might be disapproved for formal worship services. The deadline for all entries is the end of February 2008. You can email the entries to either lynn_chan_93@hotmail.com or stsy_1992@hotmail.com or you can hand it in personally. The designer whose design is selected as the official chimes shirt for 2008 will recieve a prize.

How is everyone? To be honest, I have not really gotten over the fact that xjls is not with us anymore. I know it'll take some time for everyone to get over this incident.

Here's a reminder: Please feel free to tell samuel if you have any prayer/thanksgiving items for the whole chimes to pray about. In case not all of you were aware, we are having 2 prayer books, one for "dai dao shi xiang" and the other for thanksgiving.

There will be no chimes this coming Saturday (9 Feb 2008) as there is no Paul Fellowship. Also, Timothy Fellowship will be having bai nian dui.

HEY.
at 0710h today, she left us.
this whole journey has been heartwrenching and painful for all of us, especially her.
somehow, I'm happy for her, that she is relieved of her pain.
we can grief a little, cry out loud.
but in the end, the sun still rises and the earth continues spinning.
I have been through this, though the experience is totally different.
first was my tchr, which was really sudden, second was my grandmother, who lost her will to live.
and now, this time, it is xiu juan lao shi, who might have that will to live, but went through a painful ordeal.

though she is gone,
deep in our hearts,
we know she is there.
we have experienced much with her,
gone through lots with her.
though she is gone,
she will always be with us,
in parts of our memory..

We are not sure whether she knows this,
but I'm sure our lives have been touched by her,
changed by her.
she has taught us well.

but according to samuel, he says we shouldnt go and visit her but just continue praying for her.
I guess she has her reasons and maybe shes just too weak to entertain us even if we went.

Hey people. we all know this is a tough time to get by. we're all sad and grieving. It's alright to cry over it too. but just cry and remember to get back onto your feet and carry on with our lives! she wont want us to break down just because of her, i'm sure! no matter what, we're still humans and have emotions. so crying is a form of helping us destress and expressing ourselves! HEY guys! even as BOYS/ "MAN", it's alright to break down too!

Chimes will continue to be here for each other as a family and we'll help each other get through this period of time okayy? (: WE CAN DO IT!

Me, myself, is also selfish as mankind and would really really PRAY and HOPE and WISH that God wont take her away from us, like yall. however, contradicting myself, we should still try our best to have faith and trust in God in whatever He does. yea.. He knows what's best for us.
If anything bad really does happen, I hope that chimes will pull through it TOGETHER and learn to treasure each other whos still alive on this earth. and we must learn to let go. our bodies are just "temporary tents". and to be optimistic, in some way, maybe her leaving the earth will be better for her if the pain shes suffering on earth is too much and thus if she really really leaves, TOUCH ~~WOOD~~ jean, I guess we should be happy for her relief of pain! (: that was what I told myself when my grandmother passed away. and as a person who has experienced the passing away of a teacher, this isnt as bad as my english teacher who passed away SUDDENLY, in a minute or so, while giving birth to her baby boy.

CHIMES, please do pray for our dear teacher every where, anytime, where ever we are. even if you're on your way to school and back home, in the toilet trying to answer nature's calls, when you're taking a break from studying, walking aimlessly around shopping malls or neighbourhoods, please do PRAY! you dont necessarily have to close your eyes to pray. as long as you're talking to God, even if it's silently in your heart, it is a prayer! :D as long as you mean it (:

and last, but definitely not the least,
let us continue praying for xiu juan lao shi!
firstly, pray that every thing that happens, or is done,
is in God's plans.
we can only leave her in God's hands now,
because, we are not able to do anything.
sometimes, I'll have thoughts that God might take her away from us and I really really dont want that to happen. then, I'll have selfish thoughts for God to not take her away from us and I'll practically beg God not to.
then God "enlightened" me.
He made me chance upon Mark 11: 22-24.
the passage:
And Jesus answered them,"Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain,' Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart , but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
I was very amazed and felt peace in me.
it's like telling me that God answers prayers.
so I appeal to all of you, that no matter what, bring every little thing to Him in prayer.
cause God, our heavenly Father, responses to them.
and let not our faith be shaken.
for we know that our Father is full of mercy and grace.
He is also the almighty.

Hello all,

just this evening, our family went to sgh to visit xiu juan lao shi. i shall just briefly update you guys on her current condition: (i will be very direct)

1. she still has a fever, but it has gone down a bit. however, she is currently having some breathing difficulties. she had it ever since she woke up this morning, and i dont think its getting any better. it is suspected that the lymph node thingys in her neck are pressing against her windpipe, causing it to contract and cause all the breathing difficulties. she also said (i shall be very direct here) that it felt like she might die any moment.

2. because of this, she has to save much energy and breath, so she can be able to barely produce enough sound waves to satisfy our auditory faculties.

3. her wrist and hand are all swollen and darkened because of her drip, and also because of the constant drawing out of blood for testing etc. even the look of it makes me kinda scared.

4. now, she eats and drinks very little and takes mostly liquid food. also, she is still in alot of pain.

5. (side note) when her drawer is opened, the rows and bottles of pills lined up in there look really intimidating.

6. as you know, a hospital environment is not very fantastic for staying because A. the other occupants of the room talk very loudly and she cannot sleep at night because of the cacophony caused. B. time is like the capacious depths of the ocean. it seems to stretch for miiles on end. it is very boring to be staying in the hosipital so for long,and she cannot walk around. so, she usually takes her time to eat. while eating, sometimes, she falls asleep halfway eating, then wakes up to eat somemore, then falls asleep again. i think from here, you can see what a not-so-good environment the hospital is.

7. as most of us know, her condition doesnt really seem to be getting much better, so do pray hard for her. its good to see that she still trusts in God throughout her pain and sufferings. her bible is always by her side, and i can see that it has been read many many many times. such a strong spirit and positive outlook towards life is really commendable. though in hopsital and going through so much, she is still ever cheerful and hospitable, and the joy of life has not faded.

8. in conclusion, please do pray for her as much as possible. she is going through rough times, and everyone knows that. those who are able to step into her shoes (or walk in her skin[i made this one up]) will know how much pain and suffering she is going through. so please pray for her, give her all the support and encourgment needed, and if possible (i know the school term is about to start) go visit her.

9. lastly and on a less grim note, a Merry belated Christmas,Happy belated Boxing Day, and of course, Happy New Year to All!!

Sorry if any of you weren't informed of a chimes committee.In this post, I hope to clarify any doubts anyone may have over this matter.

If any of you remember, earlier in 2007, xiu juan ls appointed some of us to lead the chimes. A voting session was unanimously held. Samuel was chosen as the chairman of chimes. I was voted for vice chairman. Since then, xiu juan lao shi has been having brief discussions with us on planning chimes for the future, as well as any matters that arose along the way. Hilary later became the secretary and she took down some notes in the beginning of the year during our chimes sessions. We have not had any formal chimes committee meetings so far this year. For myself, xiu juan ls has been discussing chimes matters with me either through phone calls or face to face.

It was only recently that xiu juan ls increased over-the-phone discussions as she was ill. She suggested arranging for committee meetings once every 3 months for next year's plans. She has also informed me of matters to bring up and discuss. If there was no problem, 2007 committee members would resume duty in 2008. Future changes of committee members will be discussed in the time to come. Since then, I've been trying to arrange committee meetings to plan for next year. It was then planned to be held during the TF camp during free time.

The purpose of chimes committee meetings are to keep chimes organised and recognised as a stable ministry in church. The meetings will ensure that we do not plan last-minute events which may result in disappointment and frustration for all. For example, we would be able to plan for a chimes outing weeks before so that it can be readily approved and confirmed.

1. Please go check out http://www.freewebs.com/amkchimes/ as I have just set up another chimes page there. I set it up about half a year ago but couldn't find time to make it available to all. Let me know how you find it. We are open to suggestions. Feel free to leave a comment there.

2. Xiao Jun, thanks for letting me know what happened in chimes during my absence. Oh yes, and why weren't you in church on Sunday? And please don't go around thinking no one likes you. For those who really don't, I feel that we should try to accept one another so that we will be able to function properly as chimes.

3. I agree with most of the things Xiao Jun brought up and I feel that other members should also voice they're thoughts so that we don't have any miscommunication. I'm sure that with feedback from onlookers and people within us, we will be able to improve.

Hello.

Here's a website my science teacher showed us: http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/primer/java/scienceopticsu/powersof10/
It shows you actual slides from outside our galaxy, our milky way, all the way until the DNA of a leaf and the electron cloud, followed by the sigle proton and eventually, the smallest thing u can find, quarks.

This shows us how large the universe is. It reminded me of God's creation. He created such a big place and even the smallest of every detail. Wonderful, isn't it?
